YERBA MATE
Yerba Mate has been around since pre-Columbian times. A native plant in South America, it grows in the dense rainforest and was used by the indigenous Guarani people. Once discovered by conquistadors in the 15th century, it was widely cultivated and spread around the world. The health benefits of yerba mate are similar to coffee, green tea and chocolate.
Today the yerba mate industry is booming with many brands and offerings. One of the most important aspects of yerba mate is that it’s grown in our endangered rainforests. Guayaki yerba mate has dedicated their brand to saving the rainforests and the people that inhabit them.

Hi, I am glad I came unto this website. I actually never heard of Yerba Mate until reading the information on your website. Is Yerba Mate okay for people on medication? What about people that have heart palpitations is Yerba Mate safe to take? I want to know because I really want to try this.
Hi Nikki- thanks for the comments! I would check with your doctor about that but I do know that it has LESS caffeine than coffee but more than tea- also perhaps if you get loose leaf you can try a lesser concentrate cut the amount of leaves in half. You can get loose leaves and try that I really like this Amazon store for loose yerba they have nice stuff.
It is often a rare thing seeing website talk about issues as it bithers on how companies and organizations are trying to create a better world for us all. The story on Guayaki Yerba that was featured is one that i believe from the content displayed here needs to receive the relevant attention that it is supposed to get.
Lucas- thanks so much man. I agree this topic is near and dear to our hearts. Please share my page to get the word out! The more Yerba people drink, the more it helps the rainforest.
My Argentinian friend introduced Yerba Mate and I just have to say that I prefer yerba mate over the green tea. Is Guayaki Yerba Mate the same brand that I see at the supermarket with the yellow box? Also will your site be selling the traditional mate cup? I have always wanted to try that. Thanks
Hey- so thank you for your comments- the answer is Yes- the yellow box/can you see in the Supermarket is Guayaki. Yes we will sell everything Yerba Mate!
Here is a link to buy Guayaki
Here is an AWESOME store for Yerba Mate Gourds and Bombillas
Thanks for the article about Yerba Mate tea. We used to buy mate tea a number of years ago. Is there more than one kind of mate tea? I don’t remember what the health benefits are for mate tea. Could you further explain the health benefits?
It is great to know that harvesting Yerba Mate tea creates a sustainable living for the people of the Amazon forest. It makes you want to be a part of something that is helping by purchasing the product. I found it interesting to note that it is renewable food source, as the trees renew their leaves every year.
Thanks Carolyn! Check out The Health Benefits for Yerba Mate on the site. Cheers!
Hi Cory,
That’s an interesting bit of information about Guayaki yerba mate. I had never heard of this before and the way you have explained how it helps the rainforests is indeed appealing. I am sure the drink has some health benefits too, and that makes it a great product. As u say, it a plant that is used as a substitute for tea, coffee, and chocolate. It is indeed surprising that a tea aficionado like me has never heard of it before.
Well, it’s good to hear about it and I plan to pick up some products from Amazon. I checked it out and found that there is a whole list of stuff that has this plant. Thank u for this information. I get to try something new.

I never heard of Yerba Mate before so thank you for the introduction to it. Personally, I don’t really drink tea or coffee or anything like that. However, my parents have been drinking more tea fairly recently. So I might recommend Yerba Mate to them.
It’s wonderful how Guayaki is trying to help the rainforest. I bet it makes the drinks taste even better knowing that it’s going towards a good cause.
Thank you so much- I love the fact that this product has a cause. Our site is going to donate to the rainforest once we are profitable. Thanks again!
